Cell Phone Straight Talk Walmart

If I buy one of those straight talk iPhones from Walmart online do I have to get it activated on the spot?

Its for a birthday in 2 weeks and I want to have everything ready by then so for the phone itself would I just be able to select in store pickup and then activate later?

You can activate them later. I have bought a number of phones from Walmart and activated them later for people.

Does the person you're giving the phone to use Straight Talk? If not, it'll just be a wifi-only device. Straight Talk phones are locked to Straight Talk and I think you need to use the device on Straight Talk for a year before they'll unlock it to be used with other carriers.

Yea this will be their first phone so I wanna try starting them off with their plan right on the day they get it, we've discussed that they'll even pay the monthly bill themselves if I buy the phone.

Only caveat to this is sometimes there are special offers in store if you activate it when you purchase it.

you should get a visible phone you could have it delivered the next day. 100% of the people are very happy with visible. and if you get on the party pay it's only $25 a month for unlimited everything even hotspot.

Not sure why you're being downvoted. Visible is running a sale that gives you a $100 rebate on most of their phones. The g7 Power is only $200 before the $100 rebate. It's a great phone at $200, much less $100. They'd be saving $20 a month and getting more data with the same service.
